Bruce Johnston(I)

On his solo album, "Going Public", released in 1977, he recorded a number of his own songs, two of which ("Disney Girls" and "Deidre") were previously recorded by The Beach Boys, and "I Write the Songs", which was a huge hit for Barry Manilow (US #1, 1975). Also included is his interpretation of the Lynsey de Paul-penned classic, "Won't Somebody Dance With Me".

I tried to miss the whole car song era. My heart wasn't into any car stuff I did. I didn't care. But I was and still am a real surfer. I started when I was 15. It was just what the neighborhood guys did in high school. I lived next to Santa Monica, so I live up in Santa Barbara close to the beach.
