Biography

    • Born in Montreal, transplanted to the Maritimes, and now based in Toronto, David began his career with Theatre New Brunswick, where he has continued to perform for over twenty five years. Audiences will remember him as the morally dubious Chuck Tchobanian on the long running CBC series _"Street Legal" (1986)_, for which he received four Gemini Award nominations. He has also performed with the Soulpepper Theatre Company in Toronto, the Stratford Festival Company, and the National Arts Centre Company, and in regional theatres across Canada. Film and television credits include Soul Food (2000) (Showtime), The Safety of Objects (2001) (Killer Films), Mysterious Island (1995) (Global), Le virus du Golfe (1998), Aldrich Ames - Agent trouble (1998) (Showtime), and _Hidden Dimensions, The (1997)_(IMAX).

      David is an alumnus of Stanstead College, the University of New Brunswick, and the Vancouver Playhouse Acting School. When not working, he fly-fishes, and is difficult to find.

    • Born and raised in Montreal, actor C. David Johnson became a household name when he landed the leading role of Chuck Tchobanian on the dramatic television series Street Legal. The show went on to become one of the most successful TV series in Canadian history. The series ran for eight years and Johnson received four consecutive Gemini nominations for Best Performance by an Actor in a Continuing Leading Dramatic Role. Following the success of Street Legal, Johnson was cast as a regular on the family series Mysterious Island, filmed on location in New Zealand.He was also heard as a guest host on CBC Radio's national current events program As It Happens, broadcast in the United States through American Public Media. He has worked in theatres across Canada, often with Soulpepper Theatre in Toronto, (Dora Award nomination for The Play's the Thing) the Stratford Festival, The National Arts Centre, Theatre New Brunswick, and was a principal in the Broadway show Priscilla, Queen of the Desert. He starred as Henry II in The Lion in Winter at Palm Beach Dramaworks, and in The Tempest with The Shakespeare Theatre Company of Washington, DC. He lives in Connecticut, but returns to Canada for work, family, and fishing. Recently on stage in The Play's the Thing and Marat/Sade with Soulpepper in Toronto, and performed the role of Lyndon B. Johnson in All The Way at the DCPADenver.
