Bruce Johnson is a multiple Emmy award-winning writer, producer and director. He has developed, written and produced movies and series for several major distributors including Universal, Fox, Disney, Sony, Hallmark, Showtime, HBO, NBC, ABC, Disney Channel, Nickelodeon, Lifetime, Animal Planet, Cartoon Network, PBS, Discovery Channel, History Channel, BBC, CBC and others.
He was the founder of PorchLight Entertainment, a company he built into a premiere producer and distributor of family entertainment. In 2011, Johnson formed Foxfield Entertainment, an independent production company focused on writing and producing movies and series.
He began his Hollywood career directing documentary films, for which he was honored with numerous awards including three L.A. Area Emmy Awards. As a senior creative executive at Hanna-Barbera and later as an independent producer, he has developed and produced over 50 movies and hundreds of episodes of animated and live action programming.
A native of Minneapolis, Johnson is a graduate of the University of Minnesota. He received a Ph.D. from Northwestern University, with studies in film, English and education.
