![THE FINAL MASTER is a martial arts drama set in the transnational time period of China before World War II. Based on his best-selling novel, THE FINAL MASTER, directed by Xu Haofeng, follows a Wing Chun practitioner and his ambitious journey to open a martial arts school in the Northern Center to fulfill the dying wish of of his master of passing down the art. In order to gain the rights to achieve this, he has to send an apprentice to secretly challenge and defeat eight martial arts schools. Unbeknownst to him is that he is merely a pawn being played in the power game within the martial arts community. In the end, he must choose between what is right and what is expected to achieve his destiny. THE FINAL MASTER is a story of deception, tradition, betrayal and revenge that all culminates to a masterfully choreographed climatic ending.
Xu Haofeng is a Chinese director, producer, screenwriter, professor and writer. He is known for his best-selling novel, Monk Comes Down the Mountain, and his award-winning screenplay for THE GRANDMASTER by Wong Kar-wai. THE FINAL MASTER is based on his 2014 novella, The Master. Wenli Jiang was born on 20 June 1969 in Bengbu, Anhui, China. She is an actress and producer, known for Lan (2009), Li Chun (2007) and Nu shuai nan bing (2000). She has been married to Changwei Gu since 1993. They have one child.
