- Introduced his son, Kalidasan, to movies, acting alongside him in 'Kochu Kochu Santoshangal' and 'Ente Veedu Appuntem' for which Kalidasan won the National Award for Best Child Artiste.
- Won the State Award for Second Best Actor & Special Jury Award for his performance in Swayamvarapandhal (2000). Also won the State Special Jury Award in 1996, Sini Best Actor Award, Film Fair Award, and Rottery Club Award in 1996 for Thooval Kottaram (1996).
