Phoebe Dynevor will star alongside Zac Efron in the upcoming movie Famous following her role in the Netflix thriller Fair Play. Released on Netflix on October 3, 2023, Fair Play stars Dynevor and Alden Ehrenreich in a compelling and suspenseful psychological thriller written and directed by Chloe Domont. Dynevor, known best for her role as Daphne in the popular Netflix series Birdgerton, will continue her "leading role in a thriller movie" streak after the critical success and streaming popularity of Fair Play.
Famous will be directed by Jody Hill based on an adapted screenplay of Blake Crouch's novel of the same name by screenwriter Chad Hodge. While Efron and Dynevor are currently the only major actors attached to the project, the fact that Hill has worked multiple times with actor and showrunner Danny McBride makes it very possible that McBride will join the cast of the upcoming thriller.

Zac Efron's shift towards serious roles is exciting, especially with his dual role in the upcoming A24 film, Famous. A24's involvement in Famous is a promising sign, as Efron's previous collaboration with the production company was successful. Efron's past success in dramas like The Iron Claw sets the stage for a potentially rewarding and challenging performance in Famous.
When I heard Zac Efron was leading yet another A24 film, I was ecstatic, but my excitement only doubled when I realized what the film is actually about. Like many audiences, Zac Efron first came to my attention in the early 2000s when he took on the role of Troy Bolton in Disney Channel's High School Musical franchise. However, Efron has come a long way from playing the basketball-star-turned-theater-geek. Over the years, Zac Efron's movies have become iconic. It seems that he intends to keep the ball rolling with this next A24 picture.

What could possibly be better than Zac Efron? It sounds like a trick question, we know. Surely there's no beating the American acting heartthrob, right? Well, how about two Zac Efrons? Because that's exactly what we'll be getting in Observe & Report writer-director Jody Hill's Famous. A celebrity doppelgänger thriller based on Blake Crouch's same-named Nyt bestseller, Hill's movie has, per Deadline's reporting, landed distribution via A24, teeing up a reunion between Efron and the studio behind his wrestling drama The Iron Claw.
Michael Sagol, Sam Esmail, and Chad Hamilton are all aboard to produce the picture, which will see Efron star as Hollywood hunk James Jansen and overeager fan Lance Dunkquist, who just so happen to both look exactly alike. However, whilst the prospect of two Efrons gadding about sounds like a dream come true on paper, in the film — as in Crouch's book — the bigger picture is a little less rosy.
