- Cody Jarrett is a Los Angeles-based director, writer and producer. Initially a musician living in Tampa Bay, Cody's Hollywood career kick-started early when director Renny Harlin (Cliffhanger) and producer Joel Silver (The Matrix) saw him in a music magazine and chose him for a supporting role in the 20th Century Fox Andrew "Dice" Clay comedy "The Adventures of Ford Fairlane." Cody eventually moved behind the camera, helming his feature directorial debut "Frogman" (Koch/Entertainment One). Featuring Andy Warhol/Roger Corman legend Mary Woronov, the film was hailed as a cult classic in Japan and the US, where a festival win and series of outrageous publicity stunts (crashing the Michael Jackson trial, an unforgettable "Tonight Show With Jay Leno" segment) earned the film a forever spot in the classic B-movie pantheon.
Cody's follow-up feature was "Sugar Boxx" (Showtime), an homage to the great Pam Grier women-in-prison films of the 1970's. Featuring Russ Meyer stars Tura Satana, Kitten Natividad, and a cameo by genre-defining director Jack Hill (Foxy Brown, Coffy), Sugar Boxx was another midnight movie success and received critical acclaim from an unlikely source: the LGBTQ community, who noted the film's realistic depiction of its lesbian lead characters was something almost never seen in a "W.I.P." movie. "Sugar Boxx" has since experienced a massive resurgence, notching a stunning 32 million views since the pandemic. An updated version of the film is set for a 2026 release.
Cody recently completed "TURA!", the authorized documentary on pioneering Asian American actress & feminist icon Tura Satana, best known for her groundbreaking role in the Russ Meyer classic "Faster, Pussycat! Kill! Kill!" Cody was chosen for the film based on his previous work and friendship with Satana, as well as his solid genre film roots and track record. Featuring executive producer/narrator Margaret Cho, John Waters, Dita Von Teese, Pamela Des Barres and more, "TURA!" takes a uniquely personal look into the life and career of one of the most influential AAPI performers in cinema history. The film is scheduled for nationwide theatrical release in the fall of 2025.
Cody is also in post-production on a sci-fi horror feature, set for release in 2025.
When not filming, Cody is a member of the occasional pop-glam band Teen Machine with actress Amanda Foreman (Felicity), Jim Bacchi (Tikiyaki Orchestra) and Johnny Cornwell (Dig).- IMDb mini biography by: Tropico Corporation
