Biography

    • Cody Jarrett is a Los Angeles-based director, writer and producer. Initially a musician living in Tampa Bay, Cody's Hollywood career began early when he landed a supporting role in the 20th Century Fox Andrew "Dice" Clay comedy classic "The Adventures of Ford Fairlane." His feature directorial debut "Frogman" (Koch/Entertainment One) featuring legend Mary Woronov was hailed as a cult classic in Japan and the US, where a festival win and series of wild publicity stunts (crashing the Michael Jackson trial, an unforgettable "Tonight Show With Jay Leno" segment) earned the film a forever spot in the classic B-movie pantheon.

Cody's follow-up feature "Sugar Boxx" (Showtime), an homage to the great Pam Grier women-in-prison films of the 1970's, was another midnight movie success and received acclaim from an unexpected source: the LGBTQ community, who embraced the film's realistic depiction of its lesbian lead characters, something you typically don't see in a "W.I.P." movie. "Sugar Boxx" also experienced a massive pandemic resurgence, notching a stunning 32 million views in the past few years. An updated version of the film is set for a 2025 release.

In fall 2024 Cody completed "TURA!", the authorized documentary on legendary Asian American actress Tura Satana, best known for her groundbreaking role in the Russ Meyer classic "Faster, Pussycat! Kill! Kill!" Featuring executive producer/narrator Margaret Cho, John Waters, Dita Von Teese, Pamela Des Barres and more, the film takes a deep dive into the life of one of the most influential AAPI performers in cinema history.

TURA! is scheduled to premiere at the 2024 25th anniversary of the legendary San Diego Asian Film Festival before an early 2025 theatrical and streaming release.

Cody is also a member of the pop-glam band Teen Machine featuring actress Amanda Foreman (Felicity), Jim Bacchi (Tikiyaki Orchestra) and Johnny Cornwell (Dig). In addition, Cody is an editor and member of the Hollywood Editors Guild, IATSE Local 700.
