Beach Boys co-founder Brian Wilson’s cause of death has been revealed.
According to a death certificate obtained by TMZ, Wilson’s primary cause of death was respiratory arrest, with sepsis and cystitis also listed as contributing factors. The document notes several other health issues the 82-year-old musician was facing, including his neurodegenerative disorder, obstructive sleep apnea, chronic respiratory failure, and chronic kidney disease.
Respiratory arrest occurs when a person’s lungs cease functioning, making it impossible to get oxygen, even if the heart is still beating.
The news of Wilson’s passing was announced by his children in a social media statement on June 11th: “We are heartbroken to [announce] that our beloved father Brian Wilson has passed away. We are at a loss for words right now. Please respect our privacy at this time as our family [is] grieving. We realize that we are sharing our grief with the world.

Brian Wilson will always be remembered as the man who dared to experiment. He is the definition of genius when it comes to making music. Whether he was laying harmonies or pushing the boundaries, he didn’t quite believe in following trends; instead, he invented them. Which is why June 11 will always be considered a dark day in the world of music, as we were forced to say goodbye to one of the field’s greatest legends.
As we remember him and his legacy, let’s take a trip down memory lane and learn a thing or two about it. From his favorite The Beach Boys song to The Beatles’ track that made him shed a few tears, we are diving into the life of a man who gave his all to music.

Sweet dreams, Brian Wilson. The world is already a lonelier place without him, after the news of his death on Wednesday, the week before his 83rd birthday. For the ultimate poet of summer, it’s fitting that he left the planet in June, right where he came in — the California boy who sang “The Lonely Sea,” the tortured genius who wrote one of the most mournful melodies imaginable and called it “The Warmth of the Sun,” the most beloved of American songwriters. The Beach Boys emerged from Southern California with an infectious sound that perfectly captured carefree summers by the shore. Starting in the early 1960s, Brian Wilson, Mike Love, Al Jardine, Carl Wilson, and Dennis Wilson created vocal harmonies and surf rock anthems that evoked imagery of the sun, sand, and freedom. Their music became inextricably linked to hot days, cool ocean waves, and memories of youth. Over a career spanning three decades, the band brewed hits like “Surfin’ USA,” “Good Vibrations,” and “Kokomo,” cementing their status as ambassadors of California culture and pioneers of the pop genre.
Now, a new documentary directs its lens on the legendary group’s history. Directed by Frank Marshall and Thom Zimny, “The Beach Boys” charts the band’s rise from a garage venture to worldwide superstardom. Between now and the 4th of July alone, The Beach Boys have many performances scheduled! Of course, the shows feature a set list drawn from a repertoire that includes four No.. 1 singles, 15 Top 10 smashes, and 35 Top 40 hits. All of those hits and all of that history are covered in the new documentary film, The Beach Boys, which will certainly help fill some seats at this summer’s concerts. Singer Mike Love is still with the band after 63 years — he’s performed on every album and every tour the band’s ever done — and we asked him...

The new Disney+ documentary “The Beach Boys” is one in a long line of both documentary and narrative features focusing on The Beach Boys and their associates, many of which have focused on the troubled genius at the band’s center, Brian Wilson. What sets “The Beach Boys” apart is the attention given to the band as a whole; while Brian’s contribution is respectfully acknowledged and explored, his brothers Dennis and Carl get equal time — along with other band members like Mike Love, Al Jardine, and the guest players who rotated in and out of the band. There’s also a rich sense of context in terms of what The Beach Boys meant to their era and to the musicians who came afterward, thanks to a wealth of carefully selected archival footage and contemporary interviews with musicians like Janelle Monae and One Republic’s Ryan Tedder.

Beach Boys' Full House cameos were due to their connection to John Stamos, who had a history with the band since the 1980s. Stamos idolized the Beach Boys and even played with them before inviting them to perform on his show and later Full House. The band's appearances on Full House coincided with big song releases with Stamos, helping promote their music to a new generation.

The Beach Boys documentary sheds light on the band's connection to notorious cult leader Charles Manson. Brian Wilson's deep themes in "Pet Sounds" marked a change for the Beach Boys with the rising popularity of 1960s counterculture. Dennis Wilson's association with Manson and the tragedy of the Manson Family murders haunted him.
The new Disney+ music documentary, The Beach Boys, tells the story of the titular bands journey to becoming one of the biggest bands in American history. The Beach Boys had many shocking reveals, including the bands relationship with notorious cult leader and murderer Charles Manson. There have been many movies and TV shows about Charles Manson, but The Beach Boys provides an interesting perspective on him through the lens of the group's surviving members. The Beach Boys is about much more than the bands controversy, but their struggles and conflicts were some of its most interesting aspects.

If Memorial Day weekend is the unofficial start of summer on most Americans’ calendars, then it makes sense that the real tentpole kicking off tent season for a lot of people is not “Furiosa” or “Garfield” but “The Beach Boys,” a streaming documentary devoted to the least wintery group of all time.
The Disney+ film, co-directed by music-doc stalwarts Frank Marshall and Thom Zimny, focuses on the first decade and a half, in the 1960s and ’70s, of the career of the rock band that still might rightfully be considered America’s greatest all-time group. It starts with their unusual, pre-Beatles melding of complex Four Freshmen harmonies with surf music and themes; continues on through the ground-breaking work of the “Pet Sounds” era that led to a friendly rivalry with the Beatles; covers the complicated years when musical architect Brian Wilson physically and psychologically retreated, leaving the group to seek...

The Beach Boys are back.
The seminal American band, responsible for such tunes classics as “Wouldn’t It Be Nice,” “Surfin’ U.S.A.” and “Good Vibrations,” originally consisting of brother Brian, Dennis and Carl Wilson, their cousin Mike Love and friend Al Jardine, are getting the feature-length rock doc treatment. And with good reason – the story of The Beach Boys, a band known for their sunny disposition, is fraught with tragedy, disloyalty and acrimony. But all of that pain went into their music, creating something simultaneously euphoric and melancholy. And it will all make for a very juicy documentary – just in time for summer!
When does “The Beach Boys” come out?
“The Beach Boys” premiered Friday, May 24. Just in time for the long Memorial Day weekend, the unofficial kick-off to summer.

Kicking off the start of Summer with the big Memorial Day weekend, a new documentary poses the question: What’s the “go-to” music for this season? Well, for the past 63 years, it’s been these pop icons out of Hawthorne, California, of course. Their signature songs invoke memories of ocean waves hitting the sand as eager athletes run through the foam with their trusty boards. Interestingly only one member of the original band surfed, though when watching a blonde adonis catching a “tasty wave”, you automatically, in your head, recall the sweet infectious harmonies of The Beach Boys.
After opening with glorious footage of an electric 1975 outdoor concert (naturally in the bright Summer sun), the doc springs back 15 or so years to the modest suburban home on 119th Street when the eldest Wilson brother Brian became fascinated by the careful vocal craftsmanship of the Four Freshmen along with other musical acts.

With the June 13 start of Emmy nominations voting just three weeks away, the race is beginning to come into focus.
The drama series competition, which was looking incredibly bleak (with only one past nominee even eligible for a nomination this season, Netflix’s The Crown), is suddenly getting exciting. FX announced that Shōgun, which was expected to be a one-off limited series, will, in fact, be getting additional seasons, making it a drama series — and the new frontrunner for that prize and several related categories. But Amazon, far from conceding the category, is making a big push for its breakout rookie show, Fallout, which has amassed a sizable fanbase and overtaken Mr. and Mrs. Smith on the streamer’s list of priorities. (On Tuesday, they called in the big guns by having showrunner Jonathan Nolan interviewed by his big brother Christopher in front of a massive crowd of voters.
