Marty Jannetty

Trivia

Marty Jannetty

Edit
  • At the 1994 Royal Rumble, after The Undertaker was beaten by Yokozuna in the casket match, The Taker appeared on the big screen in the arena, supposedly from inside the casket (obviously it was pre-taped). He cut a quick promo saying he'll never rest in peace. And then as thunder and lightning filled the arena, The Undertaker seemingly broke out of the casket on the screen, rose out of the top of the screen, and reappeared. But of course, The Undertaker was technically still inside the casket, and the person who appeared above the screen - dressed as The Undertaker - was Marty Jannetty.
  • Wrestled Shawn Michaels for the Intercontinental Championship at the 1993 Royal Rumble. It was voted Match of the Year by Pro Wrestling Illustrated.
  • Teamed with Leif Cassidy (Al Snow) to form the New Rockers.
  • Once had aspirations of becoming a professional boxer. As a child, his idol was Muhammad Ali.
  • In 1990, a lawsuit was filed against the WWF (WWE) by a preliminary wrestler named Chad Austin, who suffered a neck injury after Jannetty hit him with his trademark move, The Rocker Dropper. The injury left Austin partially paralyzed, and in 1994 his lawsuit against the WWF was settled, when he was given a cash settlement in the sum of 23.5 million dollars.
  • He and Shawn Michaels never held the WWF Tag Team Titles. They actually won the titles from the Hart Foundation in 1990, but the decision was soon overturned, and the title changed was never recorded.
  • Marty Jannetty originally made a splash in the teaming with Tommy Rogers as the "Uptown Boys".
  • Returned to the WWE as a singles wrestler in November 1992, when he began a long story angle with Shawn Michaels.
  • Held WWF I-C Title and WWF Tag Team Title
  • Former WWF Tag Team Champion with partner Shawn Michaels, and the 1-2-3 Kid (Sean Waltman).
  • Former AWA Tag Team Champion with partner, Shawn Michaels. The duo was known a the Midnight Rockers.
  • Notable Title Wins Include: NWA Central States Tag Team titles title with Tommy Rogers (2); (Kansas City) Central States Television title; NWA Central States Tag Team titles title with Bob Brown; NWA Central States Heavyweight title; NWA Central States Tag Team titles title with Shawn Michaels; NWA Central States Heavyweight title; AWA World Tag Team titles with Shawn Michaels (2); (Tennessee) Southern Tag Team titles with Shawn Michaels (2); WWF Intercontinental title; WWF Tag Team titles with 1-2-3 Kid; (Michigan) MTW Heavyweight title (2); (Florida) NBPW Heavyweight title

  • Lost his match with Kurt Angle and will wrestle on Smackdown! on 2005. (March 2005)
  • Works for Capital City Wrestling in Tallahassee, Florida (May 2004)
  • Released from WWE contract. (July 2005)
  • Teamed up with Shawn Michaels one last time as "The Rockers" and defeated Le Resistance. This was a preparation for Marty's match with Kurt Angle the same week. (March 2005)
