Richard Janes started his career as an actor at the age of 14. However, it wasn't long before Richard realized that he wasn't only interested in being in front of the camera. Graduating film school in 2001, Richard's graduation film was nominated for a student Royal Television Society Award. After a short time working for commercial companies and directors such as Tarsem, Terry Gilliam and Sharon Maguire, he directed his first stage play on the London Fringe. 'Journey's End' a story of troubled men and boys on the front line during World War II.

Richard found the script for his debut film 'Fakers' on the internet and shortly thereafter, a financier presented herself with seed money that had to be spent quickly as it was linked to a British Tax Incentive called the Enterprise Investment Scheme. Once Paul Gerstenberger's script was agreed upon, Richard and actor friend Tom Chambers drove up and down the country knocking on doors to raise the rest of the money. Pre-production started a few months later.

In 2004 Richard moved to Los Angeles where he produced a movie for LionsGate, wrote a Superhero movie for Walt Disney Productions, ended up in development hell at numerous studios, and directed a low budget music documentary which won a Los Angeles Emmy. In 2008 he produced Hulu's first original programming titled "Dorm Life" and founded the commercial production company and digital agency Fanology. At Fanology, Richard directed and or produced over 300 commercials for brands such as Toyota, Mini, Lexus, RedBull, Monster Energy, Regal Cinemas, and Microsoft.

In 2018 Richard and his wife (Amy Janes) moved to Oklahoma City where they partnered with local film supporter Melodie Garneau to develop 12 acres into Oklahoma's first film campus complete with 3 sound stages called Green Pastures Studio. With the new Oklahoma team, Richard and Amy launched the Film Crew Institute, a below the line training program which graduates around 150 students per year with many students going to work on major motion pictures and television shows such as Martin Scorsese's Killers of The Flower Moon and Paramount+ King of Tules.

In 2022, Richard jumped back into feature directing when he produced and directed Cricket's Requiem. Amy Janes had been developing the project for over 17 years and both were excited to make this passion project the first Green Pastures Studio production.
