Trivia
Jakubowska became a prisoner at the Auschwitz concentration camp after being arrested in 1942 as an active member of the Polish Resistance. Her landmark 1947 film "Ostatni etap" (The Last Stage), based on her experiences, was in part shot on location. It is considered one of the most harrowing holocaust films ever made.
