Dafne Keen is following up her appearance in Deadpool & Wolverine with a couple new horror thrillers. She will be appearing in the directorial debut of Jay Hernandez, in which he also wrote with Jason Bourque and Nancy Isaak, for Night Comes. Night Comes is being brought to audiences by Impossible Dream Entertainment and Big Picture Cinema Group. Keen is also set to appear in the film, Whistle, which comes from the director of The Nun — Corin Hardy. Shudder and Independent Film Company have recently announced that they have acquired the film for distrubution.

Whistle is written by Owen Egerton. The is adapted from his own short story, and stars Keen (Deadpool & Wolverine), Sophie Nélisse (Yellowjackets), Sky Yang (Rebel Moon), Percy Hynes White (My Old Ass) and Nick Frost (How to Train Your Dragon). Magnum Pi‘s Jay Hernandez makes his feature film directorial debut with Night Comes, which just unveiled its first photo. Described as a survival thriller, the first still from the film features You are So Not Invited to My Bat Mitzvah‘s Samantha Lorraine and Deadpool & Wolverine‘s Dafne Keen.

Heels‘ Alexander Ludwig also stars in Hernandez’s first feature.

“Night Comes unfolds against the backdrop of a cataclysmic event that threatens to engulf humanity,” reads the official synopsis. “Two sisters (Keen and Lorraine) manage to escape the horror only to find themselves thrust into a perilous struggle for survival, tasked with a mission that holds the fate of mankind in the balance.”

Shaun Redick (Get Out), Yvette Yates Redick, and Big Picture Cinema Group partners Jayce Barriero and Jacky Lai serve as producers. Hernandez co-wrote the screenplay with Jason Bourque and Nancy Isaak.

Earlier this year, it was announced that actor Jay Hernandez, whose credits include Magnum P.I., Hostel, and Suicide Squad, would be making his feature directorial debut with with the survival horror thriller Night Comes, working from a screenplay he wrote with Jason Bourque and Nancy Isaak. The film stars Dafne Keen and Samantha Lorraine – and now an image from the Night Comes production has been unveiled, giving us our first look at the characters played by Keen and Lorraine. Hostel actor Jay Hernandez (Suicide Squad) makes his feature film directorial debut with Night Comes, which is launching sales at AFM this week, per Variety. The survival horror thriller stars Deadpool & Wolverine’s Dafne Keen and Samantha Lorraine (“The Walking Dead: World Beyond”).

In the film, set after an event that threatens humanity’s existence, Keen and Lorraine play sisters “who manage to survive, only to find themselves tasked with a mission that holds the fate of mankind in the balance.”

Alexander Ludwig also stars.

The announcement comes with a first-look image of Keen and Lorraine’s characters in post-apocalyptic attire.

Night Comes is produced by Shaun Redick and Yvette Yates Redick, alongside Big Picture Cinema Group partners Jayce Barriero and Jacky Lai. Hernandez, Nancy Isaak, and Jason Bourque wrote the screenplay.

‘Bad Boys’ Star Alexander Ludwig Boards Horror Thriller ‘Night Comes’ From Jay Hernandez

Exclusive: After a successful summer with Bad Boys: Ride or Die, Alexander Ludwig has been tapped to star alongside Dafne Keen and Samantha Lorraine in Night Comes, the forthcoming horror thriller marking the feature directorial debut of veteran actor Jay Hernandez (Suicide Squad).

Details as to Ludwig’s role are being kept under wraps. Drawing inspiration from films like Birdbox and The Descent, Night Comes unfolds against the backdrop of a cataclysmic event that threatens to engulf humanity. Two sisters manage to escape the horror only to find themselves thrust into a perilous struggle for survival, tasked with a mission that holds the fate of mankind in the balance.

Written by Hernandez, Jason Bourque and Nancy Isaak, the indie hails from Impossible Dream Entertainment and Big Picture Cinema Group, the latter of which is co-financing with Versatile Media. Impossible Dream’s Shaun Redick and Yvette Yates Redick will produce alongside Big Picture Cinema Group’s Jayce Barriero and Jacky Lai, with Hernandez, Keen, Jared Zhang, Graem Luis, Jason Bourque, Joseph Tuck, Steve Read and Matthew Chow exec producing.

Production kicks off in Vancouver in September. The Exchange is handling worldwide sales and will be introducing the project to buyers at the upcoming Toronto Film Festival.

Stated Big Picture’s Co-Founder and President, Barreiro, “Alexander has so much range and gravitas – it’s going to be fun for audiences to see the depths he goes to opposite Dafne and Samantha on this intense ride.”

As previously mentioned, Ludwig is coming off of Bad Boys: Ride or Die, the fourth installment of the buddy cop action franchise from Sony, starring Will Smith and Martin Lawrence. In it, he reprised his role as Dorn, tech expert for Advanced Miami Metro Operations, which he originated in 2020’s Bad Boys for Life. One of the summer’s big hits, the film grossed over $401 million worldwide.

In film, Ludwig’s other credits include Guy Ritchie’s The Covenant, The Hunger Games and Lone Survivor, to name just a few. Also known for roles in Starz’s wrestling drama Heels and History Channel’s Vikings, the actor is represented by Gersh and Untitled Entertainment.
