The Paperseason 2 has been renewed ahead of The Office spinoff show's premiere. The Office was one of the most successful sitcoms of all time during its nine-season run, between 2005 and 2013, and in early 2024, it was announced that creator Greg Daniels was working on a follow-up series, set at a different company.

The Paper entered production in July 2024, after Peacock ordered the series, and the show began to flesh out its cast list.
