On stage from 1933 at the Berlin Schlosstheater, Carola invariably played complex, emancipated women, usually in musical comedy and (in that specifically German genre), the 'Heimatfilm'. She graduated to character roles by the 1960's and was still active in television well into her nineties.
  • In 1941 she married a major of the Luftwaffe, Arved Krüger. He was shot during action above Malta in 1942. Their son Arved-Michael was born later that year.
  • Her activities dropped off in the 70's.
  • She took acting lessons by the actor Hans Junkermann and made her debut in 1933 at the Berliner Schlosstheater.
  • In 1990, Carola Höhn was also honored with the Filmband in Gold for her contributions to the German film over the years, and in 1999 she received the Bundesverdienstkreuz am Bande (Germany's Cross of Merit).
  • Her second marriage was to Gerd Lange from 1966 till his death in 1991.
  • She was able to continue her career during wartime but her appearances in front of the camera were rare.
  • After the war she gained a foothold at the theater in the first place and gave guest performances in Berlin, Vienna, Munich and Bremen.
  • She began as the elegant star of many Ufa productions and later became the acclaimed Grande Dame of the German post-war cinema.
  • The actress Carola Höhn can look back on a 60 years lasting film career. In this time she took part in many important productions of the German film history.
  • The movie "Schloss Königswald" (86) was a homage to the great stars Marianne Hoppe, Carola Höhn, Camilla Horn, Rose Renée Roth, Fee von Reichling, Marika Rökk and Ortrud von der Recke. Together, the actresses were awarded the Bavarian Film Prize for Best Actress.
