Peter R. Hunt and Michael Reed

Trivia

Peter R. Hunt

Edit
  • Developed a style he called "crash cutting" for James Bond 007 contre Dr. No (1962).
  • Although there were talks, he refused to direct the remake of Opération Tonnerre (1965), Jamais plus jamais (1983), because he was afraid producer Albert R. Broccoli would consider him a traitor. "Never Say Never Again" was produced by old rival Kevin McClory and EON (Broccoli's company) had tried to prevent the making of this non-EON Bond movie.
  • Studied violin at the London College of Music and the history of art at the University of Rome before becoming a clapper-boy at Denham Studios in 1947.
  • Edited 'You Only Live Twice' uncredited as the original editor was not competent enough for the film.
  • Remained in Italy after the war and studied art history at the University of Rome.
  • Started as assistant editor at Alexander Korda's London Films.
  • Survived by adopted son, Nicholas Kourtis.
  • He served with the British Army during World War II as an infantryman. He participated in the landings at Salerno and saw action at Monte Cassino. He was demobilised with the rank of Staff Sergeant in 1947.
  • One of his most famous directed movies ironically bears his last name, but it's by sheer coincidence: Death Hunt.
