He died on November 22, 1986 in Guntersville, Alabama, USA.

  • His first wife Ruth taught first grade at Crestline Elementary School throughout much of Huie's career. After Ruth's death, he married Martha Robertson and lived with her until his death at Guntersville, Alabama.
