- DirectorAgustí VillarongaStarsGünter MeisnerDavid SustMarisa ParedesA former Nazi child-killer is confined in an iron lung inside an old mansion after a suicide attempt. His wife hires him a full-time carer, a mysterious young man who is driven slowly mad by the old man's disturbing past.An ex-nazi war criminal living in exile with his wife and daughter attempts suicide and is left helpless in an iron lung. Soon after a young male nurse comes to care for him. The young nurse discovers a journal describing the mans atrocities. The young man begins to go insane and starts to recreate several of the crimes documented in the journal. A sickening film with only villians.
- DirectorSrdjan SpasojevicStarsSrdjan 'Zika' TodorovicSergej TrifunovicJelena GavrilovicAn aging porn star agrees to participate in an "art film" in order to make a clean break from the business, only to discover that he has been drafted into making a pedophilia and necrophilia themed snuff film.Milos is an ex-porn star who reluctantly takes a new gig to earn some cash for his family. Little does he know that the people he's working for are into some seriously deranged, hardcore porn. After being drugged for days, Milos escapes and finds the tapes he's been starring in. Sick, Deranged, Disgusting and Awesome. If you can stomach this film through till the end, you'll be extremely upset and shocked weather you like the film or not. Not many films can make you want to lie about having seen them.
- DirectorLars von TrierStarsWillem DafoeCharlotte GainsbourgStorm Acheche SahlstrømA grieving couple retreat to their cabin in the woods, hoping to repair their broken hearts and troubled marriage, but nature takes its course and things go from bad to worse.A very good film loaded with symbolism and a heavy dose of creepy atmosphere. After an accident causes them to lose their son, an ailing couple attempt to heal each other. After retreating to the woods they descend into total madness. After watching this film I remember thinking about it for days and ultimately realizing that it may be the greatest film that I'd probably never recommend to anyone. Guess I was wrong...lol.
- DirectorLucky McKeeStarsPollyanna McIntoshBrandon Gerald FullerLauren Ashley CarterWhen a successful country lawyer captures and attempts to "civilize" the last remaining member of a violent clan that has roamed the Northeast coast for decades, he puts the lives of his family in jeopardy.A creepy slow burner that seems to be the type of film Hitchcock would make today if he were in his early twenties or thirties. To me this movie is a excellent thriller that makes you think you have all it's dirty little secrets figured out. The acting is superb and brutal and nothing will prepare you for the last 20 minutes of this film. It's a modern monster movie that will have you questioning it for days.
- DirectorPascal LaugierStarsMorjana AlaouiMylène JampanoïCatherine BéginA young woman's quest for revenge against the people who kidnapped and tormented her as a child leads her and a friend, who is also a victim of child abuse, on a terrifying journey into a living hell of depravity. This film is incredible. It is the most violent, horrifying and simultaneously brillant and beautiful film I have seen in a decade or so. If you can make it through the first 40 mins of this film you'll be hooked. Unfortunately for the weak stomached the ride only gets crazier from there. The film changes in the third act and is in fact hard to finish, but that being said, finishing the film becomes a sort of sacrifice in itself. A sacrifice offered up from the viewer to an almost perfect first 2/3rd's of an awesome horror film.
- DirectorEduardo SánchezStarsGretchen LodgeJohnny LewisAlexandra HoldenNewlywed Molly moves into her deceased father's house in the countryside, where painful memories soon begin to haunt her.Admittedly not the best film ever made, but it is well made and well acted. Lovely Molly leaves you feeling very disturbed and confused about what you've just seen. I think most of us have had a friend or known someone we liked who constantly danced along the edge of life's cliff and eventually lost control. Multiply that experience by ten and you have Molly. A beauty doomed by a number of dark forces, Molly becomes consumed by paranoia, drug abuse, mental illness, and yes even a vile and menacing ghost. What you believe really happened to Molly seems to be the question you're left with here and it's an interesting one.
- DirectorLucky McKeeStarsAngela BettisJeremy SistoAnna FarisA socially awkward veterinary assistant with a lazy eye and obsession with perfection descends into depravity after developing a crush on a boy with perfect hands.Another cool little horror flick from the minds of Lucky McKee and Angela Bettis. May isn't just the strange girl that nobody at school or work talks to, she's the the girl that's so awkward and forgettable that people aren't even ignoring her on purpose. When May does venture into the social world she soon finds out just how different she is from everyone else and just how hard it is to make the perfect friend.
- DirectorAndrzej ZulawskiStarsIsabelle AdjaniSam NeillMargit CarstensenA woman starts exhibiting increasingly disturbing behavior after asking her husband for a divorce. Suspicions of infidelity soon give way to something much more sinister. One of the first true art house horror films, in fact, it seems to be almost coincidental that Possession is in fact a horror movie. This film has award winning performances and a plot that plays with you a bit before revealing that it truly is a horror film. Possession has a title that works on many levels and the film is both smart and passionate. It's one of my all-time favorites and the first film I remember seeing that made me say WTF just happened here.
- DirectorAdam WingardStarsAJ BowenAmy SeimetzJoe SwanbergAn escaped murderer is in pursuit of his ex-girlfriend, who has fled to start a new life in a small town.Director Adam Wingard seems to be on a role, and along with director Adam Green, may be in the running for the most exciting young American horror director. This is another film that Mr. Hitchcock would be proud of with an interesting sequence of opening events and a nasty little twist at the end. A must-see modern horror film.
- DirectorMatt FarnsworthStarsDiane FosterDavid BackusMatt FarnsworthA boy witnesses his parents' murder and is sent to an orphanage, where his sister is adopted and he is left behind, being abused by using a mask. Years later, he returns to her life, still masked, wanting to teach her a lesson.A true b-horror film, but a extremely fun entry. With lots of good ole' kill scene gore, torture flick aspects and a masked slasher with a bloody agenda The Orphan Killer deserves a look especially when comparing it to more famous but similar modern b-horror films like Chromeskull, or Hatchet.
- DirectorStevan MenaStarsR. Brandon JohnsonSamantha DarkHeather MageeTen years after the kidnapping of Martin Bristol, bank robbers hide in an isolated rural farmhouse where a serial killer lurks.Malevolence is a good cheap horror slasher that plays out like a Tales from the Crypt episode with horrible, nasty things happening to horrible, nasty people. Unfortunately there are some innocents caught in the middle and that's where the film draws it's tension from. Malevolence boast one of the most interesting killers I've seen in horror, he is a tortured and sad soul as well as a relentless psychopath that is physically unable to feel pain. There is also a prequel to Malevolence titled Bereavement, the prequel has a much larger budget and some known actors but pails in comparison to the first film.
- DirectorTakashi MiikeStarsRyô IshibashiEihi ShiinaTetsu SawakiA widower has his film producer friend organize a fake audition as a means of helping him find a new girlfriend, but the woman he selects is not who she appears to be.Scary as hell and far beyond creepy. Unlike any of the J-horror's (The Ring, The Grudge) most westerners are familiar with, Audition is packed full of tension and blood curdling imagery along with A Brian DePalma like, sexually self examining plot. Although it takes it a bit to get moving, it's well worth the wait. This film contains the scariest WTF moment in film history as well as a bloody good resolution, a must-see. Hell hath no fury as this woman scorned.
