My favorite B-movies (top 20)

by bgrade • Created 13 years ago • Modified 12 years ago
I watch a lot of low budget crap movies. But it needs to be done to find these gems. These are my favorite B-Movies. They are one that really tickled me personally when i watched them.

I tried to focus on less well known movies and movies made for $5M but a few better known movies have slipped in just because they are must see films that are hard to leave out despite being cliche.

I'll add comments over time on each film but as summary I am not saying these are well made films but they standout in someway and accomplished more than the sum of their parts

  • Rutger Hauer and Joan Chen in Le sang des héros (1989)

In a future where most of mankind and technology is wiped out, six people travel from place to place playing a brutal form of football with a dog skull. They hope one day to play in the league in a city.
DirectorDavid Webb PeoplesStarsRutger HauerJoan ChenDelroy Lindo
Bleak future, Brutal pointless sport with a dog skull, Rutger Hauer, and a heart warming story of underdog triumph. How can you go wrong? No really! I love this movie. I feels real inspite of everthing.
While this was a under-watched movie for a long time it is now considered a cult classic and fairly well respected. But it can still be hard to find.

Ah, what a perfect world. It is Lassie with Zombies. It is like this movie was made just for me. Who else would they have made it for?....

In my opinion this is the best zombie movie made. The new one sucks in comparison.

A bad scientist and his wife, a mad scientist, a skeleton, and two aliens and their escaped pet are all searching for the elusive element "atmospherium".
    DirectorLarry BlamireStarsLarry BlamireFay MastersonBrian Howe
A goofy homage to low budget films. It just works for me. It is laugh out loud funny for some but to others it may seem painful and stupid (But I cry for those in the second camp).

It may help that I'm a scientist and named Paul, Just like the main character in the movie.

    Oh, Paul!....
  • Kane Hodder in Jason X (2001)

    5. Jason X

Jason Voorhees is cryogenically frozen at the beginning of the 21st century, and is discovered in the 25th century and taken to space. He gets thawed, and begins stalking and killing the crew of the spaceship that's transporting him.
    DirectorJames IsaacStarsKane HodderLexa DoigJeff Geddis
You know what they say about horror movies. They are always better in space.... Well this time they are right. Jason X isn't really a horror movie it is a action comedy and they got it right. It does not take itself seriously but it isn't completely goofy or slap stick. If you are lonely, like the ships pilot, give this movie a chance.

Not a trashy, or low brow movie like the rest of the movies in this list. Just a great movie that is not often seen these days. Everyone should give it a view.

    DirectorSam RaimiStarsBruce CampbellSarah BerryDan Hicks
The classic b-grade movie that all other crappy movies want to be. Not really a surprise or unheard of anymore. Nevertheless I feel I have to put it on the list and give it the credit it deserves as it is often the start of people bad movie addiction.

DirectorMatt VancilStarsNathan RiceCarol RoscoeBrian S. Lewis
Hail Dorkness rising. I have no idea how they pulled this movie off without it being the dumbest thing ever. A low budget movie with unknowns that just works. It is funny and heart warming to see this movie work out so well.
It is like a movie you and your friends would make but it doesn't completely suck. You would look dumber....
