Sci-Fi: Utopian societies with dark secrets...

by inofaith • Created 10 years ago • Modified 5 hours ago
This is a list of similarly themed films that are about utopian societies in some post apocalyptic world where many things are controlled and fabricated to form this "perfect" community.. and the truth is being kept by a totalitarian police state treating it's citizens like ignorant children "for the good of the people". Often these societies have removed emotions, free will and reasoning, replaced only by compliance. This is where morality gets crippled.

These themes resonate strongly with how today's society is starting to feel like. Viewers can identify with the responses to oppression, state control, increasing scrutiny and violation of privacy, mind- and feeling numbing media propaganda & substances, disregard of emotions by others.
