Pierrot escapes his boring society and travels from Paris to the Mediterranean Sea with Marianne, a girl chased by hit-men from Algeria. They lead an unorthodox life, always on the run.

Several stories on the theme of love, between which are interviews people on the streets. The film ran into censorship difficulties because of its bleak view of love in the Soviet Union, and the director was only able to complete his preferred version in 1992.
