favourite means that it's not an objective list, so don't criticize it for not being so. That being said, they're all recognized as being good, i think.

Remember the title: 'favourite' not 'best'.
When I saw the movie, I was about 8 or 9 years old, and the movie opened my eyes to the grey-ness of the world; nothing is black or white and sometimes the teacher is wrong.

I view 'The Lord of the Rings' films as one work.
I chose the third in the series to represent my feelings for the whole.
One of my most nostalgic moments is the sheer thrill and excitement the then 8-year-old-me felt when the lights dimmed in the cinema and the movie was about to start; I'll never forget that feeling.

    DirectorDavid LynchStarsNaomi WattsLaura HarringJustin Theroux
In my opinion, one of the more understandable 'weird' (used very loosely here) Lynch movies, as you need only one sitting to form a cohesive concept of the story, which is fulfilling and welcomed, in contrast to Eraserhead and Inland Empire.
  • Jeff Bridges in The Big Lebowski (1998)

    DirectorRichard LinklaterStarsEthan HawkeJulie DelpyVernon Dobtcheff
The real-time directing and long takes work wonders on the feeling of fleeting romance and connection; you are constantly on edge, wishing the end to be delayed for just that little extra time. Wonderful acting by both Ethan Hawke and Julie Delphy.

    DirectorLouis MalleStarsAndre GregoryWallace ShawnJean Lenauer
I have always had a philosophical disposition, which complements the contents of this film quite aptly. The film is well-made and touches on many personally interesting subjects such as alienation, Heidegger's existentialism, George Herbert Mead's theory of institutionalised social roles, the problematic act of making meaningful art in a society dominated by the culture industry (Theodor Adorno), et cetera.
