Superintendent Dalziel and partner DI Pascoe investigate murder, and find a bond forming between them despite their blatantly different personalities.
    CreatorReginald HillStarsWarren ClarkeColin BuchananDavid Royle
AMAZING, no other words for the character Dalziel (DL). Warren Clarke canna be "off-beat" with his performances in this long lived/loved series. Not for the faint of heart...ear, strong Gaelic accents abound and I suggest you watch via a device that can be paused and re-viewed. My daughter still has trouble understanding and she is 50% Scots, not in US years but naturalized when 17, in the 60s.

CreatorsNigel McCreryRoy MitchellStarsDennis WatermanAmanda RedmanAlun Armstrong
I came late to this series, only by happenstance and then researched and querried for 2 years until I found the series online. The Funniest and most REAL crew of folks fighting crimes and each other you will ever see.
  • Laurence Fox and Kevin Whately in Inspecteur Lewis (2006)

    StarsKevin WhatelyLaurence FoxClare Holman
Lovely Loverly Longing Lewis, adored him suffering through moody Morse episodes and when set out on his own, this series became supurlative!
Lean Lanky Hathaway hopefully will continue this series...Here Comes Hathaway! I will so miss Lovely longin Lewis. Will someone please upload a picture!

A female sleuth sashays through the back lanes and jazz clubs of Melbourne in the late 1920s, fighting injustice with her pearl-handled pistol and her dagger-sharp wit.
    StarsEssie DavisNathan PageHugo Johnstone-Burt
Another series I kept putting off. MY NEW FAVOURITE SERIES to watch again & again as full of wonderful banter and beautiful details.
However, if you are a FEMINIST and LOVE a MYSTERY, this show is FULL of HISTORICALLY ACCURATE glimpses of not just feminist struggles, but the struggles of Class Discrimination & Human Treatment of HUMANITY
EXCELLENT with not simply a stellar cast but ADORABLE CHARACTERS well acted.
The Butler with only a few scenes & words each show is "can't wait to hear what wisdom he will inject"
Dotty is simply a masterpiece of contradictions, more so than Miss Fisher.
Jack is a DREAMBOAT in my template.
Hugh is CHARMING & INNOCENT, a male portrayal of blatant sensitivity.
  • David Jason in Inspecteur Frost (1992)

    10. Inspecteur Frost

    1992–201042 epsTV-MATV Series
    7.9 (9.5K)
DI Jack Frost is an unconventional policeman with sympathy for the underdog and an instinct for moral justice. Sloppy, disorganized, and disrespectful, he attracts trouble like a magnet.
    StarsDavid JasonBruce AlexanderJohn Lyons
Jack Frost...An Acquired Taste. Warm and Fuzzy and not at all Frosty!
As peculiar a silhouette as Poirot. I think I almost enjoy watching him saunter about more than Poirot. His character is a touchy feely ol' school gentleman. He is always kind and generous, scolding an underling for not bringing a 75 year old woman, a proper cuppa tea in a proper cup!
  • John Thaw and Kevin Whately in Inspecteur Morse (1987)

    11. Inspecteur Morse

    1987–200033 epsTous publicsTV Series
    8.2 (15K)
Chief Inspector Morse has an ear for Western classical music, a taste for beer, and a nose for crime. He and Detective Sergeant Robert Lewis solve intriguing cases in and around the Oxford area.
    StarsJohn ThawKevin WhatelyJames Grout
I love these more for Lewis than Morse. Morse is a strong cuppa dark tea and took me awhile to taste, while Lewis shines here and in his follow-up series. You must endure Morse to embrace Lewis. There would be no Lewis without Morse. Morse was a magnificent mole.

CreatorsJohn BowenDavid CookStarsPatricia RoutledgeDominic MonaghanDerek Benfield
Again...you canae beat the UK for keeping it REAL...I love films, movies, TV from across our pond...WHY?...#1 Reason...Old folks, fogies, farts...I see more real life similarity in almost any of their shows. It's so nice to see folks of all ages interacting together and the quality of beauty is not 10, but an eclectic grouping of folks that look like you & me...It is interesting that with a shows longevity here, the characters achieve popular sexiness. The first time I saw Hathaway...I thought what an odd looking young lad...but his appearance through his talented performance brings REAL sexiness to his less than good looks. Same goes especially for pensioners as they are called in the UK, Hetty, her husband and then there is their young sidekick.

    CreatorColin BatemanStarsJames NesbittDel SynnottClaudia Harrison
I had always wanted to see this series and now it is on Acorn TV...I love Murphy, seriously wicked character. I love the female counterpart too, she is very good. Sometimes I do not like the sub characters...but again, she is interesting and not overly done and is definitely not a whiny woman, but a strong female lead.

Viewers made me remember Perry Mason, don't know why I forgot about him when making this list. I usually forget Mr. Frost. When I began watching this I was a very little girl and my grandmother commented that it had been my father's favourite TV Show. He had died when I was 8 and she was amazed that I had conjured it up from my memories.
