Initially I told myself I was too old to be watching teen drama series and that they usually lose steam or I lose interest... Yet here I am, giving this an 8/10. Within the first 5 min, this show started like most teen series and I thought, no way am I going to last. But I was quickly drawn in and watched all the way until the end. I had not read the books but did like the main characters enough, finding myself closer to moms ages, to finish all 8 episodes. There is a big twist in the final episode which I didn't see coming! Wish the last few minutes ended differently as I was invested in the love story but overall entertaining enough YA series to binge.
This is easily one of the best new shows in the last few years. The writing, the pacing and most importantly the acting. One of the best ensemble casts showing a diverse range of personalities, identities, ethnicities etc. Each actor brings such a force to the screen. This is the most accurate medical drama I've ever seen and I would watch a million more episodes if I could. Too many episodes is never enough! Noah Wyle is the fierce leader as Doctor Robby and I hope he wins every award possible. The range of emotions and depth he's shown is just unfathomable and nothing short of incredible. More Pitt please!
Overall I'd give this like a 6.5, it's fine for Netflix. I've missed Cameron Diaz on screen especially with her comedy, she was my favorite part about this movie. I feel like she carried this movie and I'm happy she came back to the screen! Jamie Foxx was totally wasted in this movie in my opinion. I love Jamie Foxx when he's funny and loose, this film felt like it limited his humor and dialogue. He was just kind of there? Cameron carried this movie with her humor and charisma. Wish they would have let the two both have more comedy together and not made him so serious. Would love to have seen this more funny with both of them honestly. Like both of these two though and Glenn Close was fun.
