I like the fact it added some clarity to the first movie but unlike the first, as an audience I can accept some gaps in the storyline and it still makes a good movie. This sequel which according to the timeline should be before the first, lack the flow of a good story telling. The director clearly tries to put an effort in convey many inequalities which reflects our current society but it is just too much and too messy. There are democracy vs dictatorship, liberal vs communism, social stratification, the dead and the children, sacrifices the benefit (food) of majority to enforce the 'law' yet the purpose of the 'law' should benefit the people.
If there is any lawyer out there, something really caught my attention is how the movie debate if law should be followed strictly or open for interpretation, e.g. US vs UK law.
Also very interesting how the chosen children who fights to be at the top is placed at the bottom of the platform, is the director trying to say we are all peasants regardless how successful we are?
Definitely looks like there will be a third one, and although I enjoyed this but I can't recommend it.
