I didn't see any glass dolls. Where were they? Did they have any bearing on the story.
Bambola is a doll, in archaic terms it also means the glass of a mirror. So the title could mean short night of the glasses of the mirror glasses.
That would make a little more sense than the plot.
I think Aldo Lado probably saw Last Year at Marienbad and thought that if the French can make a deary movie with no meaning, then so can he.
I remember reading the Marienbad script about 50 years ago. It described the scene where people are playing cards. The dealer turns a card over and it's a King. Or it could be a Queen. It doesn't matter, says the writer. Yeah, exactly.
There are lots of flash cuts, and shots dwelling on things of no importance, but it has a great Morricone score. I always think of poor Ennio having to watch this kind of rubbish over and over whilst he writes great music for it, and all the time wondering when the next Faccia a Faccia will arrive.
So anyway, please enlighten me , what does the title mean? What are the glass dolls? Where were they?
