  • This is a rare miss for me.

Unfortunately, this a rare disappointment in the Turkish series that I have seen. It is 100 episodes long and ends completely unfinished. In fact I have more questions than I did at the beginning. Granted maybe it was canceled unexpectedly (?) and they didn't have time to wrap up any of the storylines, but after hanging in for all 100 episodes I was really irritated at not getting a conclusion.

From the beginning of this series I always felt that the actors all seemed like B actors, or supporting cast...even the leads. (At least they were all at the same level.) The storyline was very frustrating to me...it didn't move and there were lots of silences. It was set to be a mystery but the main character Eve was putting her faith in Karem, who never really seemed to be looking for his father's killer...or who paralyzed her father. It was nice to see him finally stand up to Yasemin. And what happened to Kaan? I feel like he had a lobotomy and became a completely different person.

Not a recommendation from me. I think their are far better Turkish series out there.

  • Entertaining western comedy that pokes fun of more than just itself.

This is a western comedy that really showcases quite a few character actors. In this two mine town, the owners are in a race to find gold and at each other's throats...when a stranger comes to town and pretends to be a famous gunslinger, everyone thinks their prayers have been answered. Then someone recognizes that he isn't who he says he is.

It was fun seeing Chuck Conners as the real "Swifty" Morgan, especially after his long running classic western called The Rifleman, but the best part of this film hands down was the fake "Swifty" played by Jack Elam. Elam must have had just the absolute best time hamming it up as a gunslinger....his facial expressions alone make this film worth watching. In fact if you are looking for a light-hearted film and a good laugh, this would be a recommendation from me. James Garner holds down the cast as the main protagonist Latigo. Seriously, the actors read like a who's who at the time. Enjoy...you won't be sorry. My favorite scene, the train at the end.

This isn't a sequel to Support Your Local Sheriff, but it's in a similar town and starring the same actors...although apparently the studio tried to get away with not calling it a sequel in order to not pay the writer, William Bowers who had a clause for a certain amount of money if a sequel were ever made. Apparently the studio lawyers agreed with the writer that this is enough like the original to be a sequel and Bowers was paid the agreed upon amount...fast forward to today where they are being sold as a double feature box set!

  • Surprisingly good WWII thriller based on a Roald Dahl story.

I usually don't watch too many WWII films, which is how I made it till 2025 without seeing 36 Hours. This took me a bit by surprise and I thoroughly enjoyed it, making it a strong recommendation from me. Fans of thrillers, classic film, war movies, James Garner, Rod Taylor and even Eva Marie Saint should all watch this film.

It's a clever idea and story that is very well executed. Based on a Roald Dahl story entitled "Beware of The Dog" it tells of a clever plot by Germany to kidnap and drug an American Intelligence officer and make them believe it is the future and the war is over in order to obtain the coveted secret plan for D-Day. The plan is spearheaded by an American raised German doctor named Major Walter Gerber (Rod Taylor) and the American Intelligence officer that they kidnap is Major Jefferson Pike (James Garner). The plan relies heavily on them selling to Pike when he awakes that it is the future (1950) and he is inside an Allied Army Hospital in Germany near the Switzerland boarder. The selling of this elaborate gas lighting requires attention down to the last detail and the help of a Jewish English speaking nurse named Anna Hedler (Eva Marie Saint). And they thought of everything from Newspapers to the radio to soldiers playing baseball in the yard.

This was such a clever story and very well executed. I applaud James Garner and Rod Taylor in particular who really made this movie gripping and unforgettable.
