The first season was great, and the second season was good, the third season was exasperating, and the fourth season turned everything upside down more or less as the characters all seemed different as if someone else were writing this story altogether suddenly everyone was relaxed and peaceful almost oh except for the mother bear and her histrionic apology with the non-stop resting crying face omg and then the friend from Europe comes into the scene as if suddenly his magnificent successful restaurant disappeared and left him hanging out with Carmen again yeah for no real good reason maybe you could guess he was there to help save the bear restaurant but that belies the ending of the series which is such a letdown, perhaps the actor what's his name Jeremy Allen White is that right, maybe he really wants to move on to something else for all we know he's got too big for his chef cosplay ha anyway the ending is such a letdown at the end of season 4 it's causing me to question my faith in humanity, no not really!, just in the writers of this series.
What a raw realistic bittersweet story of the disappearing of the old ways, of an Aboriginal culture taken over by colonialists who then consider themselves the ones who belong in a place where one of the most ancient cultures some people say their ways have been transmitted 10,000 years orally!, and you see and feel and experience through such a great actor in the lead role who gives you the sense in every way of what it's like to be someone who has been put aside so yeah white fellers can rule and determine what is right and what is wrong and ignore the wisdom and beauty of what came before!, it's a little hard to watch sometimes, this is only for people who are truly interested in Aboriginal folks, give it a chance and stick with it, you can feel so many emotions coming from Charlie's eyes.
I loved watching this movie about these Hispanic women from New York such great characters and people they are, the story is really pretty good as far as stories go if not somewhat familiar, and it's all about family so familiar maybe the best appropriate way to describe such a story a tale of ordinary people experiencing typical life situations but all of the actors really do a great job and I mean I think all of them do!, it's funny and sad and compelling and sometimes frustrating and very real this story, the portrayals are so real and it makes it interesting to be a part of you actually feel like you're a part of the story I think, don't let naysayers dissuade you from this one, it's sweet.
