Impressive. Not an inch - or centimeter of excess fat in an impressive directorial debut. The writing is tight, no words wasted. The cast delivers - no surprises there, each playing their part to perfection. Kudos to the sound and lighting, both adding to a story that unfolds gradually, taking its time as it does. What's the secret? The clue is in the last words spoken, although that could be just paranoia on my part. But then again, you never know. Or do you? I liked this. A late night offering on Channel 4, totally bereft of caped crusaders and CGI. The Belgian actress should get in front of the camera more; she's a natural.
To these Irish eyes, this was like going back in a Time Machine. Everything so recent, yet, so long ago, I was one of these people: waiting, chatting, as every queue in the known universe seemed to be moving, except yours. The director of this documentary did a magnificent job in letting the camera linger: an unobtrusive observer to the comings and go of us: humanity. And kudos to the magnificent healthcare workers on show here, and everywhere else. In the the last couple of years I've become friends with two people from Croatia. One is a model the other is a weight lifter. Go figure. The world goes on.
This is, quite simply, magnificent. The two leads ( plus two ) take us on a journey through love, loss; the beginning of the end and the end of the beginning. I sat through this, transfixed. And it delivered in every way imaginable; taking its time, no need to be hurrying yourself. Kudos to the director/ screenwriter. His adaptation of an earlier work was perfection itself, every word put on the page absolute genius. And the lighting and camera work was in a par with anything you'll see, and those final few seconds prior to end credits were a joy to behold. The power of love - I couldn't have said it better myself.
