They just don't make good movies like they used to.
I was really hoping that this remake would be an updated version of the old classic from -89.
Unfortunately it wasn't even close.
The story of the remake didn't feel like it made sense really. It just felt kinda cheesy.
The background and plot doesn't really work in this day and age.
No strong character portraits, you didn't really care for any of them.
What makes this a "straight to video"-movie, as they would say in the 90's, is also the very poor acting skills of the majority of the cast. Without Gyllenhaal this movie would barely be watchable honestly.
Connor McGregor can't act for the life of him and walks around like he has a stick up his butt. The dumbest character of the whole movie.
I had to take a break half way in and finish the movie later because it just wasn't fun to watch.
Many scenes are just cringe.
It is more of a movie that took inspiration from the old Road House and tried to make a similar (but worse) than calling it a remake. If you're going to make a remake, at least try to keep it close to the real deal. This was just bad.

Can be summarized into:
Another skinny woman without muscles that beats up an army of highly trained soldiers like they were babies, goes out into space with her farmer friend to find another army made of rebels to convince them to come back with them and protect a tiny village.
This movie has such a poorly written script that you start to wonder if it was written by a bunch of stoned writers or an AI that was fed with cheesy movie scripts.
It has Bad dialog with a majority of actors that will never get an award for their acting skills. The most cringe worthy scene was probably when they picked up the drunk general.
Whoever choreographed the Bad fighting scenes should just stop doing that for a living. The actors aren't used to making fighting scenes. They just look stupid with Overused slow motion effects. Enemies just standing there waiting to get hit or shot.
Most annoying is the Extreme Overused CGI. It looks like the entire movie was done inside a studio with green screens surrounding it.
Just really bad. How on earth did they think making a part two would be a good idea?
I would be embarrassed to put my name on this if I were the director.
