The concept is clever. Dancer from what is supposed to be the Paris Opera Ballet switch with dancers from what is supposed to be the NYCB. However, what is supposed to be comedy is merely stupidity and what is supposed to be drama is ridiculous. However, the actors do the best but the story makes them all pretty much unlikable with brief moments of lucidity. And everyone is so completely irresponsible and absurd. But there are some beautiful moments of dancing performed by real dedicated dancers not the cartoons presented by the actors who are supposed to be dancers. But don't blame the actors. Blame the writers and in particular the producers. This show has as much to do with the world of ballet as Bugs Bunny has to do with the world of rabbits. But Bugs has the excuse of actually being entertaining.
This is a good show. It says it's based on a french show of a similar name only in French. Fine. But isn't it really just like MONK. MONK is a guy with special high IQ gifts that works as a consultant to a group of police officers solving crimes. Yes, MONK has some quirky personality "defects" to give the show color and humor. This show the star is a woman who has her own quirky personality and a quirky family to give the show color and humor. So, it seems like High Potential is based on the French show which is based on MONK and and MONK is based on Sherlock Holmes and Sherlock Holmes is based on a crime solver in a novel called The Moonstone. That's as far back as I can go. But it doesn't really matter. That kind of character is so entertaining, if it's done at all well, and in this show it is, it's always worth watching. Just remembered, Hercule Poirot and Miss Marple. It always works.
While this is a movie where you have to accept the premise--North Korea invades America. Still just to bring in a little bit of reality. The biggest barrier is getting troops hear. We are 3 thousand or more miles away. Invaders would need millions of troops. That means thousands of ships and tens of thousands of airplanes. NO ONE HAS THAT MANY SHIPS OR THAT MANY AIRPLANES. Not even close.the D-Day invasion involved over 7,000 naval vessels, 4,000 landing craft and 1,200 warships, plus 12,000 aircraft supporting the landings on the beaches of Normandy. Today, China has the world's second biggest navy after the US. It's a total of 370 warships. China can't even invade Taiwan which is right off it's coast. It's a massive task. Too massive.
