Loved the base setup of this movie. Very meta. Some good jokes. But then it turns into Date Night 2 with a lot of car chases. Shame.. this could have been good.
Loved the quirky Ali Wong comedy.. but the romantic friction just doesn't make any sense at 75% of the movie. Overall great start it feels like she didn't know how to wrap it up.
I saw this movie in the 'Sneak Preview' last night and I have to say this is the worst Dutch movie since 'Vet Hard'. I was quite excited about seeing this because it was made by the people who created 'Shouf Shouf Habibi' and Dutch movie I really enjoyed.
Kicks has got like three stories to it. On one side you've got these two Moroccan young boys who like to rap and seem to think all Dutch people are racists. Then you've got the twisted story about a commercial maker who wants to make a feature film involving bestiality and illegal immigrants. The last story is about a Moroccan guy and girl who are about the get married when the girl tells the guy she isn't a virgin anymore.
The movie lacked comedy, lacked story.. Afterwards I heard several people say how the hated the movie and they also didn't know what it was about. Besides Mimoun Oaïssa is being type casted far too much together with all of his Maroccan friends. Please! Aren't there any other Dutch/Maroccan actors out there?!?
