One can really expect anything from a movie with such a title. But, wow... This really surprised me with a quantity of bad written cliches and other content of a "I know how this scene ends" sort.
Simply, almost all situations and scenes could be foreseen. Ok, there were a few (say 2%) exceptions. Ironically and sorroughfully those were the ones where I was surprised with.
I also found myself surprised by quantity of multi-levelled mistakes (story and situation wise), made by makers of the title.
Of course not all movie making aspects were bad. But in this context, it's a sad fact (ahh, "if only..." type).
Haven't seen such a combination of wrong doing for some time, stratified in many layers. So much that one could even expect parodic musical typish (manga!?) crying inserts, or dancing Bollywood-styled ones - where the whole shooting-celebrateing set would turn into a "proper environment".
I really don't want to get into (mostly bad) details, there would be so many. Be warned not to expect quality content from this one. Except for brain relaxation, maybe ...

Shortly: an easygoing interpretation of what happened during Oddisey's return to Ithaca. Good directing, casting and scenography. Medium writing. Well paced and authentic.
At first I was very anxious, unthrusty... Because I don't like anyone to play with the great work of Homer and his mythical pillars of Western civilization. That of which we are all children now. Oddisey was one of the aformationed corner stones.
Perhaps in this movie writers found the missing puzzle which could be dramatically filled (though I guess there were several more others...) As said, at first I hesitated to watch it (not giving a toss to rub and dirt the golden antique mythology) but when I saw the casting: J. Binoche and R. Fiennes, I changed my mind... Of the found vacuum puzzle in a famous story, writing made an interesting "sequel" to it - about a lot of questions of lifehood, war, expectations, family, homecoming, timespan and more.
And, thankfully for me, in the end, the famous opening scene, with an arrow flying through a dozen axes was explained. Hopefully it will save me from an irritating explanation of what it means (which started to make me wonder about today's people's general education and knowledge of rich Greek mythology and some first written works. They simply don't know).

It wasn't really a movie I expected for a Christmas theme. But I can only say that for 90% of time it literally pulled my shorts off with anticipation and some nerve-wracking action.
Viewers should expect great directing and well done casting choice for characters in the very thrilling story (though not original, but otherwise the team pullned 110% out of it).
In a sea of Christmas easy-going movies and soft lemonade content, this must was an exception.
Very easy to project oneself to the protagonist's character (all the time wandering: what would I do in his place).
Technology today makes things much more complicated for both sides (surveillance and tracking, security protocols, weapons, etc). The story is orchestrated in that way that one cannot easily find out an easy solution. Especially in the high tech environment like an international airport where the story is placed. As already said, it's not the first nor the last movie of the sort; but this time really well done from a movie making perspective.
