  • Where's the off button??

I was actually getting into this film and enjoying it..... until the Hindi hoedown started up. Oh the disappointment left me shell shocked because I foolishly thought that for once a film made in India could be spared all the dreadful Bollywood rubbish. This just proves that Bollywood song and dance DOES NOT GO with science fiction. As soon as the very first song starts, you're reaching for the OFF button which is a shame coz the film was looking really promising up until then but like I said, as soon as the BS starts it turns into a Mr Bean moment full of cringe factor 10. It wouldn't be so bad if the songs actually enhanced the story but they don't. You'd get the same WTf!! factor if you were watching say for example "Independance Day" and instead of Bill Pullman's speech to the pilots you got the spice girls bouncing out the hanger singing if you wanna be my lover. That's how disjointed Bollywood is. They shoehorn song and dance into every film because they just can't bloody well help themselves. Kinda like Bollywood torretts syndrome.

  • Remembered for S.I.D.

The only reason I remember this is because of S.I.D. which I assume stands for Sarcastic Information Drone.

He was without a doubt the best character..... only memorable character in this series, with his one liner's and VERY sarcastic put downs toward the rest of the crew. I would imagine that Kenny Williams (God bless his resting soul) had an awful lot of fun voicing SID because the script for him was the best thing..... ne ... the only thing worth watching the show for as it was a shoe string budget and the rest of the actors were shockingly terrible.

Kenneth Williams was the shining knight that kept a bad production from going down the tubes and I would watch the show again simply for S.I.D.

  • Well worth viewing despite the low budget. Brilliant story.

This is a fantastic story. Yes the production is a bit rough and nothing like the Paramount standard but all the veteran actors manage to pull off a reasonably good performance. Walter Koenig also turns to his Bester character from Babylon 5 to give depth to the alternate Pavel Chekov. It's absolutely amazing how you're actually drawn into the story within 10 minutes and you begin to forgive the low budget just for the sake of burning curiosity to find out how the story progresses and when it gets to the end, you're left with a feeling of satisfaction and the hope that it will get remade like the Sanctuary series has been. It might have been a good idea to at least have gone to the Babylon 5 production team to polish off the CGI since they were good at low budget production. There's even a kind of blooper reel at the end credits that are extremely amusing.
