This episode is what could best be described as a fever dream. I absolutely love it. There's no theme, no premise. It's just full on ridiculously hilarious satire with the boys, it's so much like old sunny I'm having a blast. The lawyer is a pirate now. The guys are getting hopped up on peppers and becoming EMTs. Dennis is more of a mad man than I've ever seen him. The references to the bear are truly amazing and having worked in a restaurant them screaming about having to say "corner" is actually killing me. This honestly feels like season 5 of sunny and I'm here for it. Charlie is a Michelin star chef and Dennis is a five star man. Bamboleoooo.
This movie was a weird one. You KNOW you're going to get epic Tom Cruise stunts and action and the movie delivered that in spades. However the writing pulled me right out of the movie. Over and over again. Constantly repeating the stakes, characters finishing each other's sentences in every scene made me feel like this was catering to twelve year olds as if they needed to be told exactly what was happening at every moment. It doesn't give the audience ANY credit for having a functional brain. It was bad enough for me to question whether or not the director wanted more money for a writing credit and typed the premise into chat gpt, and no I'm not exaggerating.
I was thoroughly entertained from the jump with this show. It's eerie, twisted, well thought out and interesting. It may not be the best thing you've ever seen but I would put it above most shows I've watched on Netflix. Kevin Bacon is a revelation. He somehow brings a humanity to his characters in every role that many actors don't. Milly alcock surprised me and did a great job. This isn't necessarily my genre but It hooked me, from start to finish and I binged it all the way through. On a weekend nonetheless which is no easy feat. If Netflix wants to stand out against apple TV and Hulu this is the way to go.
