I watched all episodes in one sitting. It recreated the era particularly well. An outstanding cast with impeccable direction. Ellis (Byron) was in just about every scene and was perfect casting. I laughed, cried, laughed some more until I couldn't breathe. Emotional and outstanding drama. The music was also a great reminder of the nightlife scene 25 years ago, it had a way of transporting you back all those years ago without feeling that time had moved too much. A couple of familiar faces popped up that added to the enjoyment as they were unfamiliar roles for those actors. Well done to all for the journey.
As did I. I would never have watched this wonderful drama if I had listened to the critics. I have not read the book, so I am unable to vouch for its authenticity but as a viewer, I was engrossed and captivated by the storylines, costumes, acting, sumptious settings etc. I binge watched the whole series and cannot wait for more. Many of the cast gave excellent performances the show is a big winner for me.
I too caught this about midnight, not aware it was being shown and had missed first 15 minutes but thoroughly enjoyed its Britishness. Being a Londoner I found it captured the essence of a London police drama, albeit very stereotypically but with a charm long forgotten, but the locations were wonderfully captured and made me feel quite homesick (even though i'm a North Londoner by birth), it really did remind me of The Lavender Hill Mob or Dixon of Dock Green. It also reminded me of an episode from The Sweeney or dare I say it The Bill and these programmes still have great following. Rupert Graves gave a splendid performance as did the whole cast and wish I had seen it when first shown.
