I love the game, so I didn't mind that they changed the concept for the big screen. However, I wasn't prepared for the mediocre story, which had so much potential, and the poor acting from some of the cast. It felt like they were bored with the material, and eventually, so was I. I did enjoy the creature design, and a couple of jump scares got me, but by the end of the movie, I was left wondering, "How did they manage to make such a cool concept so dull?" If it had been more entertaining, I wouldn't have cared as much about the illogical character behavior or the plot holes. But ultimately, "Until Dawn" didn't add anything to the genre. Exploding bodies and gore can't save a movie when the thrill is missing, and it's impossible to sympathize with the characters-which, for me, it definitely was.
This movie boasts a stellar cast, a captivating story (even if familiar), action sequences, humor, and an air of mystery-all elements that typically constitute a worthwhile adventure film.
However, it feels somewhat lacking, missing a crucial element that has, in my opinion, plagued Guy Ritchie's recent works. To be frank, I fast-forwarded through much of the second half due to its lackluster nature. While predictability isn't inherently problematic, a film that adheres so closely to adventure tropes should at least be engaging, which "The Fountain of Youth" unfortunately was not.
I believe John Krasinski would be ideally suited to portray Nathan Drake in an "Uncharted" adaptation. Yet, even the presence of him and Natalie Portman couldn't elevate the film's overall enjoyment.
Perhaps viewing it while under the influence of alcohol might improve the experience 🙈😁

Okay, the concept was cool and started generically, but funny. Until it became a mess and a train wreck.
It's like the makers didn't know where to go with the concept and just drove the whole thing into a wall.
It should have stayed in "dumb fun" territory but shifted its tone constantly after all hell broke loose, until it became just dumb without the fun part.
Why still four stars? Because it had a few moments where I was able to laugh, especially at the beginning of the apocalypse. And the concept was promising.
Certainly a waste of some talent.
But otherwise, I regret spending money on it.
