Born in Memphis Tennessee, Robert's professional career started in the back room juke joints as a drummer playing the best in Memphis blues. He worked with the likes of Ma Rainey, Little Laura Dukes, and Big Sam Clark at the old Shanti Inn. This was the beginning of the world famous Memphis Sound.

During the 70's after a tour of duty in the marines and a career in rock & roll, Robert joined Charlie Feathers on the road. He also got to share a friendship with Bill Glore at the American Studios in Memphis, where Bill taught Robert the nuts and bolts of the business.

Robert is considered a master drummer, and has shared his knowledge and skills with many students through the years.

1988 found Robert and his beautiful wife Irene, sharing a cameo role in the Finnish movie, Leningrad Cowboys Go America, which aired on Cinemax!

It was in 1995 that Robert wrote The Trucker's Last Ride, a true story set to music that launched his songwriting career. Now there is over 700 songs in his catalog.

Robert feels blessed to have received the Key To The City Of Memphis, Tennessee and Mississippi Governor's Award, Pioneer Lifetime Award from the Memphis Music Heritage Foundation, Rockabilly and Traditional Country Hall Of Fame Inductions.

Following a career that has spanned over 30 years, Robert continues to play drums, perform as a singer/songwriter, and also finds the time to hold songwriting and drum clinics.

He is the special guest drummer for the Grand Ole Opry Road Show featuring Ernie Ashworth, Charlie Louvin, Jan Howard, and special artist, Traditional Country Hall Of Famer, Joe Berry.

Robert is also co-writing with Grand Ole Opry Star and Songwriter's Hall Of Fame inductee, Charlie Louvin.

Who knows what tomorrow may bring to the music business? But Robert will be right in the middle of it, grinning from ear to ear!

  • We were in the movie.

My wife Irene, and myself, (Robert Morris) owned "The Lonesome Bar" in Memphis where part of the movie was shot. This is where they performed "Rock And Roll Is Here To Stay" and my buddy, George Kunkle played the banjo and sang one of his songs. The barber was Bill Robertson, who was a real barber next door to the bar. He passed away shortly after the film came out, but it allowed him to sing in a international film.

The whole cast and crew was wonderful! We played pool and got drunk every night after shooting. One night we sat on the curb out front and took turns picking and singing our favorite songs. That was a experience I will never forget.

We hope you like the movie, as we will never forget it.
