The Sniper franchise has always been cheesy-at-best. But it's been decently presented in the past. This group of actors are truly horrible. The dialog (script) is awful, and the stunt/special effects work is just plain bad.
I was fully expecting a C-level movie when I sat down to watch this. But I was NOT ready for a (barely) D-level flick.
Sadly, it appears that the new crop of actors in the last few entries of this film series are all the same, which means I won't be watching any of them any time soon unless I feel the need to punish myself for something.
On the upside, the sound and music score isn't too terribly bad.

After reading so many negative reviews, I decided that it couldn't possibly be so awful. I'm glad I ignored the reviews. It's NOT that bad.
I found it to be incredibly entertaining. I ended up binge-watching both seasons in a weekend, which left me craving to find out what's going to happen if there is a season three. Unfortunately, there has been no word on if the show has been picked up for another season or not. The ratings dropped by around 50% between season one and season two, so I'm not optimistic.
The show reminds me of the original Star Trek series. The effects are mediocre, the acting passable to decent, the story premise excellent.
I'm not sure why people seem to need Oscar-winning-level story, acting and effects in order to just enjoy an hour of entertainment.

Having seen the original Top Gun in the theaters, and then again multiple times on video over the years, I was excited to hear about the sequel and couldn't wait to see it.
I heard a lot about Maverick and how great it was. But when we went to see it (again, in the theater) I was incredibly disappointed. Perhaps it was my own fault, as I was expecting a completely new movie. Instead, what I saw was virtually a line-by-line, scene-by-scene remake of the original.
Obviously the actors have changed, but the story has not. It's literally a remake, right down to the wardrobe and locations.
If you never saw the original Top Gun, this will be a really decent movie to see. But if you did see it, be prepared to see it again.
