Being the first project for its director/writer, I think this film delivers very well. A cohesive storyline, a good acting performance, the pace is somehow slow but yet interesting. It gives you the chance to live with and care for characters. The plot is very simple and the idea is not original, but you will not feel bored. I like this kind of films that contain very little "happenings" and high load of emotions. I think music could have been used in a better way, and also the ending scene was not so satisfying. Keira Knightley was good and convincing, and Sam Worthington's character was somehow confused (maybe this was intended). Guillaume Canet gave an excellent performance. Finally, I liked this film and I highly recommended it for those who like to enjoy good drama.

This summarizes it all! What fascinates about this film is not the story, nor the drama, nor the characters. All who likes the movie would hate it as hell if it's simply narrated in a conventional way. It has nothing new on dramatic level. A very ordinary story that tries to be scary. The key point here is this ingenious unique way of storytelling which I didn't experience before (Yeah I didn't watch The Blair Witch Project yet!), so this way of gathering "acted" scenes and a "real/fake" footage was really surprising and effectively chilling and disturbing. I will not make a spoiler here because I really want you to watch this if you didn't yet. Final word: Don't think a lot about the legality of "based on true events" claiming, and don't think of it like: "The filmmakers have deceived us!". Be smart and just Enjoy the film.
