I am not easily impressed, and can be brutally honest (and brutal) in my reviews (see Obstacle Corpse), but I recommend this movie with a big IF.
The premise of the movie is absurd, but IF you can get past that, this is actually a very entertaining film.
Production values are good (they spent some money on totally the card I'm sure); characters are consistent with their established personalities (no quick reversal of personality like Short Round in Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom); actors and actresses are good in their roles, and their characters act believably given the circumstances they find themselves in; actions are (although noted as absurd) consistent with the premise of the work.
The lead female character is intelligent (except for her taste in men) and capable...not always the case in horror flicks.
This is not a classic, must see like Frankenstein, The Thing from Another World, Forbidden Planet, or Alien, but - if you (as noted) accept the premise - it is entertaining.
In short, if you want some down-time with enjoyable brain candy, I recommend this one.

I was looking forward to this flick, as a good friend of mine was born and raised on the Isle of Skye where this was filmed, off the Scottish coast. Unfortunately, the flick itself (not to be confused with a "movie" which is engaging and entertaining is, as noted in the title of this review, a crushing disappointment. First, nothing much happens for the first hour of the flick. People argue, trundle around and waste time not entertaining us; even the delightful Scottish brogue of much of the cast doesn't help. Next, as good horror movies have shown us - from Nosferatu to Frankenstein to Alien - the Monster makes or breaks the material. Here the monster is an ill-defined afterthought...if any thought was given to it at all.
Watch this movie - if you must - for the lovely scenery of the setting, but do not expect to be entertained beyond that.

Olaf Ittenbach
The title pretty much sums up this review. Ittenbach is the German answer to Roger Corman - movies made cheaply generally with mediocre actors (although some greats have risen from Corman's efforts) - the difference being that Ittenbach's work reveals a limited, surface, pinched-soul that leaves a bad taste in one's mouth...and this "effort" is no exception. Horror fans with a facile level of feeling for characters will enjoy the simplistic blood and guts and casual murders/killings but anyone with an appreciation of the modern classics (the best of Carpenter's, Hooper's O'Bannon's work) or even a feeling for characters will be massively disappointed if not angered. AVOID.
