American here. I thought this was hysterical and poignant. The relationship between father and son, mother and son, and now son and daughter was funny and touching. Not sure why people found this to be low humor. I expect it's probably people that took the American jokes too personally. Michael and Jack have a keen wit, enough credibility and seriousness to get into places and cars many of us weren't aware of and do it with humor and intelligence. Is it showing a side of Americans that is fatalistic and dark? Yes. But that's where we are here. I loved this and laughed right along with them. Loved Jack and Michael's first Netflix show as well.
I Loved the original BOSCH series. This new one is so bad. So many cheesy catch phrases, more cheesy, over-used movie and tv story lines, character arcs and some very BAD acting. Only reason I gave it 4 stars is because of Titus (Bosch actor). He is so good in everything. Mimi Rogers is so bad in this series that it is shocking considering her resume. The actress who plays the daughter is one dimensional and stiff. They really should have left the original series end with no "reboot". Titus Welliver is a great actor. Get him a new series ASAP. But this mess has to go. I have no idea how a second season is coming.
