I don't know why it says 1 star; I gave it 8 stars.
I think if you were a chlld and saw this when it first hit theaters, and then saw it once a year after --which made it special, there's an inevitable sweet nostalgia to it, as with many childhood things.
It holds up pretty well , mainly at Christmas.
I really dislike the "Confidence in Me' song they added to the movie. The Broadway version has two very adult songs between the Baroness, the Captain, and Max -- "How Can Love Survive" and "No Way to Stop It." They're great songs and they cut the treaclyness. I wish they'd kept them.
Love Angela Cartwright and Lisell has a lovely voice.
And Christopher Plummer? Rowr.
