About her mom every 3rd sentence of season 1 is just too much. The girl playing her is over the top, hilarious overacting compared with Daddario's deadpan face that struggles to show the slightest bit of emotion. Lightwood's sister and Magnus, the warlock are possibly the only entertaining characters that doesn't moan/pine/whine incessantly. I know this is YA fiction, but God, this cast sucks. They could have done great things with the series and they utterly failed. Hugely disappointing. Motherland: Fort Salem has its fair share of annoying characters, but it's a better watch. Try that instead!
Uglies has a great premise but the execution was missed by a loooooong shot. The idea that society not only wishes for conformity, but to erase individual identity is an easy one to find fault with when the execution is dumbed down for children. Yes, it's a YA thing, but why dumb it down this much?
The film does take off in the second half, but like the Divergent series, there's something missing that would elevate the movie to where it should have been.
Disappointed. I hope the author didn't have much input, otherwise I can't see how he would approve such a mediocre movie.
