Valutazione di stereosteve-1
Nothing amazing, but a decent little film, I thought. Better than many of the reviews here would lead you to believe. Definitely worth a watch, as long as you can suspend your disbelief about no-one having a mobile phone or there being no security cameras. Otherwise, this is original, engaging, very well acted, darkly humorous, well-shot, and thankfully not quite as grim or disturbing as I was expecting, given the subject matter - bullying in a old people's home.
It's not a supernatural horror, it's more of a dark thriller with horror elements. No gore, that I remember. Lithgow and Rush gave excellent and brave performances. Would recommend.

This was a tough watch, and not at all the film I was expecting after seeing the posters and reviews. And not as good as Red Rocket, Anora or Tangerine.
This is 2 hours of slow, meandering and plotless hanging out with one of the most gratingly loud and obnoxious main characters I've ever seen on film, and her poor little daughter. The daughter is equally unpleasant but you feel sorry for her, as she has the most atrocious role model. The mother is her own worst enemy and hard to empathise with. The main character in Red Rocket was awful too, but at least he was amusing in his selfishness and idiocy. Not so here.
Basically, imagine hanging out for two hours with the worst neighbours you've ever had, or can imagine.
Also, there were many scenes that could easily have been edited out, as they added nothing but 'vibe'.
On the positive side, it looks great with its candy-coloured cinematography, captures the atmosphere well, and Willem Dafoe is fantastic as always in a supporting role, providing the heart of the film. All the performances were convincing, and the child actors were brilliant, and the director did well with them. Decent ending. And it really gave you insight into America, and why it is what it is. But otherwise, I can't really recommend this.
