Ted Lasso stands out as one of the best feelgood comedy series of recent years, blending sharp writing, genuine warmth, and a unique cross-cultural twist. The show follows Ted Lasso, an American football coach from Kansas, who is hired to manage a struggling British soccer team despite knowing little about the sport. What makes the series especially delightful is how Ted's relentlessly positive, kind-hearted, and often naive American character becomes the most "British" in spirit-winning over even the most skeptical locals with his charm and optimism. If you're looking for a comedy that makes you laugh, feel, and believe in the good in people, Ted Lasso is truly a must-see. Its great script, lovable characters, and the way Ted-an American-embodies the best of British spirit, make it a standout series that lives up to all the hype.
Family business Rombauts is a major player in the pharmaceutical world, but not without its struggles. After an accident, CEO Ludo (Wim Opbrouck) is forced to step back, leaving his inexperienced daughter Isabelle (Hanna Verboom) temporarily in charge-much to the frustration of her brother Juliën (Jacob Derwig), who sees himself as the rightful successor. Meanwhile, the side effects of an antidepressant are causing increasingly serious problems. Showrunners Dana Nechushtan and Maaik Krijgsman cleverly intertwine the complex pharmaceutical industry with a gripping family drama. A must see and to binge on NPO Plus.
I watched this after finishing Yellowstone, and I have to say, this show is really disappointing in comparison. The writing feels weak, the pacing is all over the place, and most of the characters are simply not engaging. The only good actor in the entire show is Billy Bob Thornton-he delivers a solid performance, but unfortunately, he is the only one who does. The rest of the cast is either overacting or completely lifeless, making it hard to connect with any of them. I honestly don't understand the high ratings this show has received. It feels like people are watching a completely different show than I did. The dialogue is clunky, the storyline lacks depth, and the overall execution is just poor. If you're considering watching this, I strongly recommend saving your time and choosing something else instead. There are far better shows out there that deserve your attention more than this one.
