The earthy intense smoking emotional energy of the actors pulls in the watcher. It stamps the viewer forever. A visit through movie watching becomes a memory that stays stamped on the viewer for eternity or as in my case a lifetime.

Emotional fencing supported by the physical threat of violence wrapped in raw pure need and desire fired with a tight steal corset of greed. This movie is all of this and more. Why it is not higher in the rating is certainly a puzzle.

Yul Brynner is timeless, and nails his character. Yul Brynner .... Dmitri Karamazov Character of strength and entitlement nails this character.

Maria Schell .... Grushenka;Claire Bloom .... Katya, The female characters played well off each other.

Lee J. Cobb .... Father Karamazov Cobb unbending with favorites who anoints the chosen one with forgiveness

I saw it the first time over forty years ago, and it is still one of my favorite movies. I have ridden horses in the mountains of Arizona. It simple stark and sears to the bone. A man is simple, he doesn't need a lot of lip. He just does. Gable and Russell, still put a smile on my heart a grin in my spirit, watching them verbally swat at each other. Unlike today the money didn't win, easy didn't come first. It was simple and clean.

I really enjoyed this movie, A moral piece, with delectable Esther Williams, smoking Jeff, The classy rich good looking educated spoiled rich boy, A Drop out in life to find out his truth. Exploding into his world of escape all that he had ran from to the ends of the earth "The beautiful born poor model about to hook an easy life" The dilemma that befalls both he and she, go with your heart, flow with your passion. Follow the buck. This might have been a B movie; it might had been made on a shoestring budget. I found that on sight poverty wild style of living only enhanced the story line, It branded me "this" movie into my mind for all time. I saw it the first time over thirty years ago, and I still remember it with a smile. A very good movie, only for the steak movie consumer of moral/lust/love/ with a seasoning of ironic twist at the end. I really loved it can't you tell!!!!!
