I suppose if you're 12 and you've just discovered masturbation, then this movie might seem risky and fun. But if you've grown up a bit, then the whole movie seems childish and predictable. A few slapstick gags and a sluggish script don't help the likeable cast but it's the old fashioned direction that drags the whole thing down. Watch it at home. But make sure you have plenty of beers to dull the critical senses. And please - someone tell Filipino directors that comedy films don't need speeded-up action sequences to make them funny. It looks so dated. I watched this on Netflix so it didn't cost me anything. Just as well.
How do films like this get made? Who puts up the money? Or are they just vanity projects from spoiled rich kids ? I only ask because this must have looked rubbish on paper. I think I recognized one name on the cast list. The others were totally unknown. They should stay that way. Especially the leading lady. Dreadful beyond words. And the production values? Let's saturate all the colors and have a palate of primary hues. Everything about this movie is a mess and you should avoid it like the plague. It doesn't even fall into the "it's so bad, it's good" category. It's just plain bad. You have been warned.
Vice Ganda's Christmas offerings are considered a family treat here in Philippines. There was zero to celebrate here. A truly dismal offering with nothing to smile at. Some risky jokes and swear words like "motherf**cker" hardly make this suitable fare for children. And VG's lazy use of gay friends is a mistake. They can't act. Neither can VG's partner/bf. He had an extended period of time because of Covid, to come up with an original idea and a truly entertaining script. But what we got was 10th grade Mr Bean/Benny Hill minus the jokes. It's sad that this was an entry for the Metro Manila Film Festival. It's a million miles from cinematic excellence.
