I love the Hollywood 70's new wave. And I absolutely love The Godfather... however the Al Pacino bits in Godfather II were not my favourite (they would be the De Niro bits)... and an Al Pacino festival curated by me would be very short. Scarface for the chuckles, and Carlitos Way is a favourite... however for such a mentioned actor I'm not on team Pacino..
So I need to write 600 character... here I go; Scarecrow (1973) is good.
Serpico (1973) is well regarded but not a favourite of mine. It's not bad; just not on my playlist, Dog Day Afternoon (1975). Another New Hollywood title that I can't connect with. It's frequently referred to as a classic..
I could ho on, however..,.

I've read reviews where people refer to the 1970 film as being a failure because it lost money (the fact it lost money is debatable; underperformed maybe?). But money isn't everything anyway! Are films that make truck loads of money of higher quality? I think the 1970 film got the tone right, and much like the film version of The World According To Garp it may have changed the story/plot, however the tone was right. I haven't finished this series yet but it doesn't feel right so far. I'll continue with the series as I love the novel, however I'm expecting the worst... and hoping for the best. So far I'd say watch the 1970 film instead.
One of Spielbergs history films. A fascinating true story which should have been gripping instead, seemed very slow indeed.
