Feels predictable. Feels sooooo cliché. Every interaction seems forced. The music is over the top. Already misogynistic boy cop saves helpless girl cop. And my pet peeve...no-one can grip a gun. The first interview where the boy agent and the girl agent can't keep their personal feelings under control. Breaking their suspect down in 10 sentences. All of it. I'm disappointed. I'm surprised this series even rates a 7. I'm going to go out on a limb and say Camacho and whomever the antagonist boy cop is are going to end up sexual partners. But they don't want anyone in the unit to know. That's how predictable this is after just one episode. Cmon. Do better.
I used to love this series. Don't know if the writing has changed, but I feel like every line is predicable. Every scene, formulaic. Every conversation in between is some sort of preachy, after-school special message. Because the writing has become so bad, every utterance seems forced. Season 8 episode nine. "My mom is working 2 jobs. It's not fair". "Maybe he's too old for SWAT"...you do know I'm the same age right?...."I'm just thinking about what I would have done if my wife or little girl answered the door instead of me...". The forced delivery of lines in side conversations that would never happen...I think I am going to have to walk away.
I'm in episode 3 of this series. Pretty good so far. Lots of fun character actors. Interesting plot. Fairly believable roles. All the good stuff you'd expect from a series that already has this rating. Unfortunately I've discovered an ick that is one of my pet peeves.
Officer Crosby is written as a quirky cop bereft of normal graciousness and feelings. Kinda like a Sheldon Cooper of police detectives. By all accounts, she's good at being a cop, just not a people person. Speaks Spanish...attends autopsies etc.
Here's the ick. The very first time we see her draw her pistol, she grips it like she's an actor who's never been shown...and she has definitely never fired a semi-automatic pistol. Her unfortunate grip with BOTH THUMBS crossing over each behind the slide is a rookie move made only once. If she ever discharged her gun, the slide would rip her a long lasting memory of the event leaving her bandaged.
Nothing ruins the illusion of a seasoned cop like horrid gun handling. It's bush league.
