Over the years the best horror movies have routinely come from the world of independent film. When free from the studio system and studio influence, independent directors and producers are free to make the movie they really want to make. Don't turn out the lights is a perfect example of that. Level of thrills and anxiety are amazing. I found myself on the edge of my seat throughout most of the movie. This is exactly the kind of movie I enjoy seeing. Not another tired sequel depending on previous storylines. Turn the lights down low make some popcorn and sit back and watch a Directors true vision of a horror movie come to be.
Everything about this movie was amateur. Back-and-forth back-and-forth to the same locations fight choreography that looks like it was made up at the time by the Director and worst of all the producers didn't even give full credits at the end of the movie. Not a single credit for set decoration for production design for Costume Design no PROP MASTER credit yet somebody was handling the one single gun that Kept getting used over and over. Plus when all else fails and you can't afford any more zombie make up go to the standard group of people living in some kind of post apocalyptic cult. Not only does this movie not show you anything you haven't seen over and over and over again. It looks like the whole movie was shot in several weeks. Don't waste your time skip it.
All-around not a bad movie. Has all of the standard beats and goes exactly where you think it's gonna go. It is red dawn with aliens a small group of ragtag survivors fight this incoming alien force. However. Stephany Jacobsen has to be one of the stiffest most unpleasant actresses to watch ever. She seems like an incredibly unpleasant person in real life and it really comes across in this movie. She never smiles shows no emotion and is really painful to watch. Her facial expressions look like she picked them up out of an acting book moments before she gave the performance. Rest of the cast was OK and enjoyable to watch. This seems like it could've been the pilot for a TV series.
